About Acne

Acne is commonly known as pimples or zits. They are very common everywhere. Any don’t treat acnes as problems but for many people they are. Acnes are not something anybody would like to have therefore there are thousands of products lined in the medical shops as well as cosmetic shops. Not only the pharmaceutical companies are interested in the problem but even the cosmetic companies are interested in finding acne treatment. This is so because millions are affected by acne problem.

Let us first try to understand what acne really is. Medically acne or pimples is known as acne vulgaris. There are several pores in our skin which releases sebum which moisturizes the skin. When the sebum is too much that all cannot be released, the sebum along with dead cells clogs and blocks the pores. Then this follicles or collection of sebum, dead cells and bacteria bulge out. When this bulge is white, it is called white heads and when the head of the bulge is black, it’s called black heads. When these white heads and black heads get infected by the bacteria, it is called acne or pimples.

Acnes appear mostly on adolescences and affects the face, neck, chest, back, and shoulders as well. In some people the acnes disappear after some tie but in many cases it is necessary that the person takes medication. Acnes are caused due to various reasons such as stress, bacteria in the skin pores, etc and some are genetic problems. There are several treatments for acnes. There are home acne remedies as well as medicines which will be prescribed by the doctor and also other treatments which will be done by the doctor. The treatments will depend on the person and the nature of the acnes.

There are topical and oral acne products that are used according to the severity of the acnes.

Topical acne products include benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, topical antibiotics, tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene, etc. these products come in various forms like gel, cream, etc and are used to cure mild acnes.

Oral acne products are used for severe acnes. Some includes oral antibiotics, oral contraceptives, isotretinoin, etc. these also come in different forms.

The effectiveness of these medicines will depend on the person and in some cases it may further the problem. Therefore the patient should always consult the doctor. Even after the acnes are gone the scars remain and give a very bad impression. There are treatments available for removing the scars from any part of the body. Among them, the laser treatment is the most popular even though it is expensive.

For many the problem is not that serious and therefore we choose to treaty the acnes at home itself. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of vegetables and fruits help clear the pimples. Another acne remedy is to get enough sleep and keep the face clean. There are several over the top medicines and products that are safe for regular use and at the same time effective.
